I have wonderful photos of Gail, Robert, Amy, Maggie and Matthew boating on Mirror Lake in Chugiak, Alaska. I remember in the late 50's and early 60's (my youth) boating across this lake in an old abandoned red wooden boat. We needed three people to do the job. Two people rowed and one person bailed the boat as the water pored in. I could not swim so we took a couple of inner tubes with us. We rowed over to the boy scout camp where the were several row boats and canoes. My parents were not aware as I am sure we would have forbidden to go in a boat that had such a huge hole.....More about Mirror Lake another time....

I just passed Mirror Lake twice today .. thanks for sharing your story.. was my mother in the boat? if she was she was probably yelling "help me mother" "oh please" :)
ReplyDeleteI recognized the lake right away but I thought I must be seeing things, because Matthew looks like Nate does now! Cute boys.
