Malamute Saloon and The Howling Dog Saloon
I have had lots of fun at these two places. They are about a block from each other in the town of Ester about 5 miles from Fairbanks, AK.
Ester is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska, United States. It is part of the 'Fairbanks, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area'. The population was 1,978 at the 2007 census. While the village is often described as a "bedroom community" of Fairbanks, its inhabitants take exception to this description, and have a strong sense of community.
At the Malemute Saloon, where Alaska poet Robert Service wrote some of his most famous poems, tourists can swig dark Alaska ale, watch comic skits of yesteryear and toss peanut shells right on the sawdust floor.
